Ingredients

  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F and place a nonstick pan over medium heat.
  • Add butter, marshmallows, vanilla extract, and salt to the pan stirring constantly until smooth and melted. Be sure not to overcook this mixture. Take it off the heat as soon as it is combined.
  • Combine melted marshmallow mixture with Rice Krispies cereal and the powdered sugar in a large bowl using a nonstick spatula.
  • Spread your mixture onto sheet pan lined with parchment paper using the spatula to break it into smaller clusters.
  • Bake at 250 degrees F for 30 minutes stirring and breaking up the mixture every 10 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool completely before serving with ice cold milk! Enjoy!!

Notes

  • The classic Rice Krispies Treats Cereal was on the dryer side so it stays crispy in milk, you don't want to add too much extra butter or marshmallows.
  • This recipe makes about six cups of rice krispies treats cereal. Double if you're looking for a larger portion or want lots of leftovers.
  • I used the brand name Rice Krsipies for this recipe, but any brand will work.
  • Use parchment paper and a nonstick spatula to break up your mixture into smaller clusters.
  • Make sure to stir every 10 minutes or so while it bakes so everything dries out evenly.
  • Allow the cereal to cool completely before serving, and store in an air tight container or ziplock bag.
  • If you still have larger pieces once your cereal has cooled, use your hands or spatula to break it into smaller clusters.
