1tspof dried oregano, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder
1/2tspof red pepper flakes
1/3cuppepperoncinis peppers OR banana pepper ringsdrained
1/3cupof shredded Parmesan cheese
8ozshredded iceberg lettuce
1/2of a red onion thinly sliced
Instructions
Start by cooking your hot dogs however you like. I prefer to grill mine.
In a large bowl, mix together mayo, red wine vinegar, salt, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.
Add pepperoncinis peppers or banana pepper rings, 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, 1/2 a sliced red onion, and shredded lettuce.
Build hot dogs on buns with the grinder salad. Enjoy!
Notes
The grinder salad mixture makes enough to top at least 12 hot dogs depending on how much of the salad you use.
I used an 8 oz bag of pre-shredded lettuce to save some time making this recipe, but you could shred your own ice berg lettuce if you prefer to.
Pepperoncinis peppers have a little bit of spice to them, if you don’t want spice you could use mild banana pepper rings instead.
I prefer to shred my own Parmesan cheese from a block for better texture and flavor than the pre-shredded cheese.
Be sure to top the hot dogs with the grinder salad right before serving, so the buns don’t get soggy.
You can use your favorite type/brand of hot dogs and hot dog buns for this recipe. I like grilling or smoking the hot dogs, but you can cook the hot dogs however you prefer.
This grinder salad mixture is also really good on grilled burgers!
