Crockpot Baby Back Ribs

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 8 hours
Course: Dinner
Cuisine: American
Keyword: Crockpot Baby Back Ribs
Servings: 6 people
Author: Luke Brown

Ingredients

  • 2 racks Baby Back Ribs
  • 2 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup BBQ Rub seasoning
  • 1/3 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Liquid smoke optional, but adds a great smoky flavor
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce

Instructions

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs, pat the ribs dry with paper towels, and cover the ribs in yellow mustard.
  • Mix together BBQ seasoning and brown sugar. Sprinkle the seasoning and brown sugar all over the ribs. Make sure both sides of the ribs are well coated in yellow mustard and the bbq seasoning/brown sugar.
  • Cut each rack of ribs into two pieces. Place the ribs into your crockpot meat side touching the side of the crockpot.
  • Pour liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar into the center of the crockpot.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender and easily pulled away from the bone. For completely fall-off-the-bone ribs, cook closer to 8 hours. If you still want to be able to cut and pick up the ribs check them at 6 hours.
  • Once the ribs are tender, place them on a sheet pan and drizzle them with some honey and spread bbq sauce all over them.
  • Broil in the oven at 500 degrees F for just a couple of minutes. Do not take your eyes off of them so they don’t burn!
  • Use a large knife to slice the ribs and serve. Enjoy!

Notes

See my Frequently Asked Question section for more tips!
  • Baby Back Ribs are my favorite kind of rib to make because they are a little bit smaller and more tender than spare ribs. If you are looking for a delicious smoked rib recipe, check out my Smoked Baby Back Ribs!
  • My family loves smoked ribs, so I like adding liquid smoke to this recipe because it adds just a little bit of a smoky flavor like traditional BBQ ribs. You can find liquid smoke at Walmart or most grocery stores. If you don't want a smoky flavor you can leave it out of the recipe.
  • Be sure to remove the membrane or silver skin from the back of the ribs! Most ribs will come with the membrane still attached and it needs to be removed. Removing it allows your ribs to turn out nice and tender!
  • Any BBQ Rub will work for this recipe. My favorite is Strawberry's Grand Champion that I buy on Amazon!
  • My favorite BBQ sauce for recipes like this is Sweet Baby Ray's, but you can use your favorite BBQ sauce.
  • If you want your ribs to be completely fall-off-the-bone cook the ribs on low for 7-8 hours.
  • If you want to be able to slice and pick up the ribs I suggest checking on them at the 6 hour mark. Check for tenderness.
