Servings: 6 people

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef formed into 6 patties
  • McCormick Hamburger seasoning
  • 8 oz pack of Baby Bella Crimini Mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp each garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parlsey

Instructions

  • Form 2 lbs of ground beef into 6 (1/3 lb) burger patties and season both sides with burger seasoning.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and fry burgers in the skillet for about 8 minutes, or until fully cooked. The meat should no longer be pink and reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F with a meat thermometer.
  • While the burgers are cooking, clean and slice your mushrooms.
  • Once all burger patties are fully cooked, remove them from the pan. Remove all but about 1 tbsp of the grease from frying the burgers.
  • Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Once the mushrooms are golden and soft add minced garlic and stir well.
  • Add butter and flour to the skillet of mushrooms. Stir those together to form a roux and let cook for at least 1 minute.
  • Add beef broth, heavy cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the creamy gravy starts to thicken.
  • Lower the heat to low heat and add the hamburger steaks back into the skillet.
  • Cover with gravy and let sit for a few minutes. Top the Creamy Hamburger Steaks and Gravy with dried parsley.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. Enjoy! Let me know if you try it out!

Notes

See my Frequently Asked Questions section for more tips!
  • I used 80/20 ground beef for this recipe and formed the hamburger steaks into 6 patties.
  • The 80/20 ground beef makes flavorful, juicy burger patties, but you can use a leaner ground beef if desired!
  • I like McCormick Hamburger Seasoning, but any burger seasoning blend you have will work. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder would work just fine for seasoning the burger patties.
  • Be sure to get a good sear on the burger patties before flipping them! This will add flavor and help them from falling apart.
  • If all six burger patties don't fit in your skillet you can work in batches to not overcrowd the pan if needed.
  • If you don't like mushrooms you can leave them out of the gravy or swap them for sliced onions!
  • Baby Bella Crimini Mushrooms or White Button Mushrooms will work in this recipe.
