Equipment

  • 1 Stove

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 1/2 a white onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp each of salt, pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 TBSP pure maple syrup
  • 2 TBSP Dijon mustard
  • 1 TBSP white vinegar
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the ends off of the Brussels sprouts. I also like to slice them in half.
  • Chop four pieces of bacon and add it to a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook bacon until it is fully cooked and remove it from the skillet.
  • Add sliced Brussels sprouts and the chopped onion to the skillet and cook over medium high heat.
  • Add salt, pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes and let them cook until the Brussels sprouts have started to cook down and soften.
  • While those are cooking in a bowl combine maple syrup, Dijon mustard, vinegar, and minced garlic.
  • Once Brussels sprouts have softened go ahead and add the syrup mixture and turn the heat down to low.
  • Add the cooked bacon back the skillet as well.
  • Stir everything together well and cover with a lid.
  • Let simmer until the sauce has thickened.
  • Enjoy!
