Maple Dijon Brussels Sprouts

These Maple Dijon Brussels Sprouts are easy to make and absolutely delicious! They are so good that my whole family was fighting over these at dinner time! Next time I make them I may make a double batch. These would be a perfect side for grilled chicken, steak, or any smoked meat.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 1/2 a white onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp each of salt, pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 TBSP pure maple syrup
  • 2 TBSP dijon mustard
  • 1 TBSP white vinegar
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic

How to Make Brussels Sprouts

To make this easy side dish, start by washing one pound of Brussels sprouts. I like to slice the ends off of the Brussels Sprouts and also slice each one in half.

Next, chop at least four pieces of bacon into small pieces and add it to a skillet over medium high heat.

Cook the bacon until it is cooked through and remove it from the skillet. Leave the bacon grease in the skillet!

Add the sliced Brussels sprouts and a chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon grease. Go ahead and add all the seasonings! I season this with salt, pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika, and some red pepper flakes.

Stir well and let the Brussels sprouts cook until they are cooked down and starting to soften.

While the Brussels sprouts are cooking, in a bowl combine maple syrup, Dijon mustard, vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir well and set aside.

Once the Brussels sprouts are soft turn the heat down to low and add the maple syrup mixture to the skillet. Add the cooked bacon back to the skillet and stir well.

I like to cover them with a lid and let them simmer until the sauce has thickened.

Serve Maple Dijon Brussels Sprouts

Once the sauce has thickened it’s time to eat! We had these Brussels Sprouts with an easy Crockpot BBQ Chicken and Potatoes recipe. They would also be a great side for steak, grilled chicken, or smoked meat like ribs or pulled pork!
