Cuisine: American

Servings: 6 people

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/2 tsp each of salt, pepper, dry mustard
  • 1 tsp each of Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder and onion powder
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 to 1 cup sour cream
  • 12 oz medium egg noodles
  • 1 tsp fresh or dried parsley

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add one pound of ground beef and a chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, dry mustard, paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and onion powder. Once beef is cooked drain any extra grease.
  • Add 1 tbsp of minced garlic and 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce. Stir everything together well. Add 3 tbsp of butter to the skillet. Once the butter is melted add 3 tbsp of flour. Stir together and let cook for at least one minute.
  • Next, add a 12 oz bag of egg noodles with 3 1/2 cups of beef broth and stir well.
  • Once the whole skillet is bubbling, cover with a lid and turn the heat down to medium-low. Let cook for about 10 minutes (stirring once half way through cooking) or until the egg noodles are tender.
  • Once the egg noodles are soft, stir in your sour cream. Start with about 1/2 cup and add up to a cup to taste! Stir the sour cream into the beef stroganoff. Top with dried or fresh parsley and serve!

Notes

See my Frequently Asked Questions section for more tips!
  • I used 12 oz of extra wide egg noodles for this recipe, but any size egg noodle should work the same.
  • I used 3 1/2 cups of beef broth and the egg noodles cooked perfectly, but if your egg noodles aren't quite cooked or the broth reduces to quickly add another 1/2 cup of beef broth and stir well.
  • Ground turkey could be used in place of the ground beef.
  • You can mince your own garlic or use garlic from a jar for this recipe.
  • I used a large 12 inch cast iron skillet.
  • I recommend starting with 1/2 cup of sour cream and adding up to 1 full cup to taste!
