Crockpot cube steaks are a simple and budget friendly dinner that my family loves in the colder months.

This recipe takes minimal prep work and it’s one of those recipes that you can just throw in the crockpot and forget about until it’s time to eat!

Warm and cozy comfort food doesn’t have to equal hours in the kitchen and this recipe is the perfect example of comfort meets convenience!

This recipe is made with simple ingredients and pantry staples like cube steak, onion soup mix, brown gravy, onion, and condensed mushroom soup!

  • Cube Steak
  • Onion Soup Mix
  • Brown Gravy Mix
  • Onion
  • Low sodium cream of mushroom soup
  • Low sodium cream of celery soupย 
  • Water

Make Crockpot Cube Steaks

This recipe takes super minimal prep work and that makes it great for busy families! Just slice a medium onion and gather the rest of your ingredients.

First, place two pounds of cube steaks in the bottom of a large crockpot spreading them out to cover the entire surface.

Next, you are going to sprinkle on one package each of brown gravy mix, onion soup mix, and a place a sliced onion over the top.

Low sodium options are available in both of these mixes if you are watching your sodium intake!

Finally, for the wet ingredients add in one can each of low sodium cream of mushroom soup and cream of celery soup. Add about 1/2 cup of water and do your best to stir the ingredients around.

Be sure the cube steaks are still on the bottom of the crockpot.

If you aren’t a fan of mushroom soup you can use 2 cans of cream of celery or vice versa.

Place the lid on your slow cooker and allow it to cook on low heat for about six hours or until the cube steaks are fork tender!

Once the cube steaks are fork tender, it’s time to eat!

I served these with my easy homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and warm split top rolls.

  • I used 2 lbs of cube steak for this recipe. Cube steak is an inexpensive cut of beef that has been tenderized. It usually comes from the round or chuck.
  • This dish was not too salty, but if you are watching your sodium you can use low sodium seasoning packets and the heart healthy cream of soups.
  • I used 1 can of heart healthy cream of mushroom soup and 1 can of heart healthy cream of celery. If you don’t like cream of celery soup, you could use another cream of mushroom soup instead.
  • I prefer to cook cube steaks on low until fork tender to be sure the meat doesn’t end up tough.
  • These cube steaks are perfect over some homemade mashed potatoes!
