Smash Burgers
Smash Burgers on the griddle don’t DISAPPOINT!
Have you ever had a burger that was just so good that you couldn’t stop thinking about it?! These Smash Burgers do that to me. They are my absolute favorite way to make burgers! They have a crispy caramelized outer crust and the yellow mustard and onions set them apart! Everyone loves these smash burgers when I make them! Fun fact..when I first shared these smash burgers over on TikTok, the video went mega viral!
To make these delicious smash burgers, I start by getting the griddle ready. Then I form 1 pound of ground beef into 3 ounce balls. Next, slice one onion and lay the slices out on the griddle. You will now place each 3 ounce ground beef ball on top of each pile of onions and smash the burger down into the onions. I either use a burger press for this or a heavy skillet to get the burgers nice and evenly flat. I then brushed yellow mustard onto each of the burger patties and then season them with Kinder’s Caramelized Onion seasoning. I’ve found that this seasoning is the best for these but if you don’t have it, you can use salt, pepper, and garlic powder instead.
Once your burgers have cooked for a few minutes, flip them and continue to cook until they are to your liking. I like to make sure they get those yummy caramelized edges before pulling them off the griddle. While your burgers are finishing up, spread a little bit of butter on your buns and toast them on the griddle. Top each burger with your choice of sliced cheese and continue to cook until it melts. Once the buns and burgers are done, pull them off and bring them inside!
Now it’s time to assemble your burger! I keep it simple since these burgers have so much flavor already. Stack one or two burgers on the toasted bun and top with some burger sauce and the top bun. To make the burger sauce, just mix together ½ cup ketchup, ¼ cup of mayo, ⅛ cup yellow mustard, and 2 tablespoons of sweet pickle relish. This sauce is delicious on these smash burgers and is even a perfect dipping sauce for fries!
Once you try these smash burgers, it will be hard to go back to a traditional burger. The yellow mustard is so good on these and adds the perfect flavor in my opinion. These are the perfect burgers to make for a crowd and everyone can have fun stacking them one, two or even three burgers high! Try this recipe out, I hope you and your families love them!
