Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Ingredients

Make Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

This is a simple recipe with minimal prep work.

You’ll start by cutting your chicken into bite-sized pieces and patting them dry with a paper towel. This is going to prevent clumping and ensure an even coating on all of the chicken.

Next, add your chicken to a large bowl.

Measure out 1/2 cup corn starch, 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper and 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder.

Breading and Seasoning Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

Pour the cornstarch and seasonings over the top of your bite sized chicken and shake until it’s well coated on all sides.

Next, add 3-4 tablespoons of peanut oil or whatever frying oil you have on hand to a pan on medium-high heat.

Cooking the Chicken

Once the oil is hot add the chicken evenly to the bottom of the pan and allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes before stirring.

Let the first side of the chicken get nice and crispy.

Then stir the chicken and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy on all sides.

Cooked Chicken for Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

Once the chicken is golden brown and cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F remove it from the pan.

Set the cooked chicken aside while you work on the sauce.

The homemade honey garlic sauce comes together in no time!

Making Sticky Honey Garlic Sauce

Using the same pan you just used to cook your chicken, lower the heat to medium-low.

Next, add 1/3 cup honey, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, and 2 tbsp of minced garlic.

Add 1 tbsp each of apple cider vinegar and ketchup. Last, add about 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to the pan.

Stir the sauce together well.

Adding the Cornstarch slurry

Allow that to simmer for about 2 minutes before adding a cornstarch slurry.

To make the cornstarch slurry stir 1 tbsp of cornstarch and 2 tbsp of water together in a separate bowl.

Stir in your cornstarch slurry.

Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, add the chicken back to the pan.

Stir the chicken in the sauce until well coated.
