Cheesy One Pan Pizza Tortellini

Cheese tortellini with pepperoni

Can you name a more delicious duo than pizza and pasta mixed into one?! I sure can’t! This cheesy Pizza Tortellini dish is a hearty and super delicious recipe! Of course, my kids love this one. I haven’t met a kid who doesn’t love anything pizza flavored. Cheese-filled tortellini coated in marinara sauce with savory pepperoni with gooey cheese is just heavenly! This is a quick one to throw together during the week on those busy nights. I also love the fact that it only takes one skillet and about 30 minutes!

To start, I browned 1 pound of ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. I added ½ teaspoon each of salt and pepper, and 1 teaspoon each of onion powder, and Italian seasoning to the ground beef and continued to brown. I then added in about ⅓ cup of mini pepperoni and cooked until browned. Once the ground beef and pepperonis are browned to your liking, drain any excess grease from the skillet. I then added 1 tablespoon of minced garlic to the skillet along with a 24 ounce jar of marinara sauce and ½ block of cream cheese. Stir everything together well.

Once everything is stirred together well, add in a 19 ounce bag of frozen tortellini to the skillet and mix to coat the pasta. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook on medium-low heat for about 5 minutes or until the tortellini are cooked through. Once the tortelli is soft, top with freshly shredded cheese! I used mozzarella and cheddar cheese but you can add whatever cheese you prefer! Just measure with your heart how much cheese you want to add. I finish the dish by topping with more mini pepperoni on top and cover with the lid and let the cheese melt.

This is not a light meal by any means, but if you’re looking for a delicious, cheesy and hearty meal, this is for you! I pair it with a fresh salad with some acidity to cut some of the richness of the cheese. This is a recipe that my two boys love and we know they will finish their meals when we make this for dinner! There may not be many leftovers because of how delicious this dish is but if there are, they reheat well the next day for lunch!  Try this recipe out and let me know what you think by leaving a review!

Helpful Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use frozen tortellini because we always have it on hand in the freezer but fresh tortellini from the grocery store would work well too.

  • Shred your own cheese for a richer flavor and it will melt better too!

  • I used Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese for this recipe.

  • Regular pepperoni would work well for this recipe too, I just prefer the mini pepperonis to some in each bite!

  • Add any pizza toppings that you would like! Italian sausage would be amazing in this, as well as mushrooms, peppers, onions, etc.
