Bacon Cheddar JALAPEÑO Pinwheels

These make an awesome appetizer for any party or get together!

These bacon cheddar jalapeño pinwheels are an appetizer we’ve been making for over 10 years! They were even served as an appetizer during the social hour at my wife and I’s wedding. They have been a staple at parties and get-togethers of ours ever since! The bacon and cheddar make these pinwheels so delicious! They are the perfect bite sized appetizer but just be careful because before you know it, you’ll have the whole plate gone!

To make these pinwheels, start by preheating your oven to 375º. Cook 6 strips of bacon in a skillet on medium heat, then chop and set aside. Next, in a medium sized bowl, combine 1 block of softened cream cheese, ¼ cup diced jalapeños, ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and the chopped bacon. Mix everything well until combined. Then, on a sheet of parchment paper, roll out 1 tube of crescent roll dough into a flat sheet. Pinch together the seams of the dough to make it one flat piece. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Next, roll the dough up tightly. Cut the roll into 1 inch pieces. Place pinwheels on a parchment paper lined sheet pan and place in the oven and bake at 375º for 15-20 minutes, until golden.

Serve these pinwheels on a serving platter and watch them disappear. I suggest making a double batch of these for your next event or get together; these don’t last long! Everyone will love these pinwheels!

Helpful Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • Fresh or pickled jalapeños may be used for this recipe. If you want these very spicy, use fresh jalapeños and leave in the seeds.

  • Shred your own block of cheddar cheese for a creamier cheese. Store bought shredded cheddar may be used too.

  • Keep the roll of crescent dough in the fridge until right before you’re ready to use it to keep it from getting too soft and sticky.

  • If you can find a roll of crescent sheet dough at your store, that works great as well.

  • Store bought bacon bits may be substituted for cooking your own bacon.

  • Leave out the bacon if you’d like to make this meat free!

  • To reheat, warm up in the oven on low heat.
