Cheese Steak Homemade Hamburger Helper

Cheese Steak homemade hamburger helper is an easy weeknight dinner recipe! This Cheese Steak Hamburger Helper has chopped onions, green peppers, and is seasoned with steak seasoning! The whole family loves this one and it’s cheap and easy to make!

Growing up, Hamburger Helper was a staple in my house. Both my parents worked full time, and with two hungry teenage boys to feed, Hamburger Helper was quick and cheap (I can’t lie…sometimes Mom had to make a double batch).  Now that I’m feeding my own family, I understand the need to get food on the table quickly without spending a ton of money, so I like to come up with all kids of different variations!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 1 chopped green bell pepper

  • 1 tsp each of steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika

  • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • 2 TBSP A1 Steak Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth

  • 1 1/2 cups milk

  • 8 oz can of tomato sauce

  • 2 1/2 cups spiral pasta

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

To make this cheese steak hamburger helper, start by browning a pound of ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat. Add a chopped onion and a chopped green pepper to the skillet and let that cook down.

Once the ground beef is browned, add steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and oregano. Stir well and add the beef broth, milk, tomato sauce, A1 Steak seasoning, and about 2 1/2 cups of pasta. I like to use a spiral pasta, but any pasta you have should work!

Stir well and let that come to a quick simmer. Once its starting to bubble, cover with a lid, and lower the heat to low. Let this cook on the stove for about 10-15 minutes.

Once pasta is cooked, stir well and add about 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Top with the remaining shredded cheese and cover with a lid until cheese is nice and melted. Top with some dried parsley and serve!

We always like having hamburger helper with some kind of vegetable. My go-to easy sides are roasted broccoli, green beans, or a salad.

  1. 5 stars
Made this tonight, and it was a huge hit with the fam! The only steak seasoning I had on hand was a buttery steakhouse blend, so that’s what I used and it was delish. My husband called dibs on the tiny amount leftover for his lunch tomorrow!

  2. I struggle with this. Oregano. Did you use ground? Leaves? There are a few variations in the spice section. I love oregano, but don’t want to overdo it!!
