Ingredients

  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 15 oz jar Rao’s Alfredo sauce
  • 15 oz Rao’s Marinara sauce
  • 19 oz frozen cheese tortellini
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Parsley flakes

Make Creamy Italian Sausage Tortellini

There is hardly any prep work involved in this recipe making it super easy! Start by chopping an onion.

Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add one pound of Italian Sausage to the skillet. I am using my 12 inch cast iron skillet for this recipe, but any large skillet will work.

Cook the onions and Italian sausage in the skillet until the meat is browned and there is no pink left.

Italian Sausage

Drain the Italian sausage well and add 1 tbsp of minced garlic. Stir the meat and garlic together well.

Over medium low heat add one jar of Alfredo sauce and about 15oz of Marinara to the skillet. I used Rao’s band for both the Alfredo sauce and the Marinara sauce.

You can use any sauce you prefer, but may need to adjust the seasonings based on the brand of sauce you use.

Add one bag of frozen tortellini, 1 tbsp of Italian seasoning and 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes. Stir the Italian sausage, tortellini, sauces, and seasonings together well.

Seasonings

Make sure the frozen tortellini is covered in the sauce this will help make sure that it cooks evenly in the pan.

Cover with a lid and cook for about 5 minutes or until the tortellini is tender and cooked through.

Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and cover with a lid until the cheese melts or pop it in the oven at 400 degrees until the cheese melts.

Serve Creamy Italian Sausage Tortellini

Once the cheese has melted, it’s time to eat! I like to top the skillet with a little bit of dried parsley.

Serve with a Caesar salad and some bread sticks or garlic bread!

Absolutely delicious. I used a different brand of alfredo sauce, but other than that, didn’t change anything else. Will definitely make again. Plenty of leftovers.
