Crockpot Beef Tips
Crockpot Beef Tips are an easy and delicious dinner recipe the whole family really enjoys! This is such a warm and comforting meal for fall and winter. It doesn’t get much better than beef tips served with mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn!
Ingredients
- 3 lbs Sirloin Tip Roast
- Butter or oil
- Salt, pepper, garlic powder
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet of onion soup mix
- 1 TBSP minced garlic
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 TBSP Worcestershire
Prep the Beef Tips
Start by gathering all ingredients needed for this recipe. I used a 3 pound Sirloin Tip Roast and cut it up into cubes.
In the past I have also used a chuck roast, rump roast, or stew meat cut up into cubes and it also turned out well with this recipe.
Next, heat a large skillet over medium high heat with a little bit of butter or oil. Once the skillet is hot quickly sear the cubes of meat until browned and remove them from the skillet. You are not cooking them completely, just getting a nice sear on them.
Making Crockpot Beef Tips
Once the meat is browned, pour the beef tips into a crockpot that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Add beef broth to the hot skillet and turn the heat down to about medium. Season with the onion soup mix, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well being sure to scrape all the browned bits off the bottom of the skillet.
Let this beef broth mixture bubble for a few minutes and pour it over the beef tips in the crockpot.
Lastly, put the lid on the crockpot and cook on low for about 6 hours.
Serve Beef Tips
Once the meat is finished cooking, I like to make a gravy using the juices from the crockpot. To make beef gravy from the juices in the crockpot, I combined 2 tbsp of butter and 2 tbsp of flour in a pan over medium heat. Stir together until the flour is combined with the butter and it starts to thicken. Cook for a couple of minutes stirring. Pour in the juice (about 1 1/2 cups) from the crockpot into the pan. Stir until it thickens and is gravy!
Once the gravy is ready it’s time to eat! We served this with mashed potatoes, gravy, and some corn!

Made this yesterday and absolutely loved it. Not usually a beef eater, but will definitely make again
This looks great. I am not a fan of the onion soup mix because of the dried onion slivers. Do you have any suggestions for a substitute?
You could substitute a can or 2 of Campbell’s French Onion soup, a diced onion, bag of frozen diced onion, or even onion powder. It just adds some depth to the flavor.
Just remove the onions like I do.
Use the seasoning with fresh onion.
