Smash Burger Crunch Wraps

jump to recipe

Smash Burger Crunch Wraps have all the ingredients of a smash burger, but are wrapped up in huge tortillas and folded like a Crunch wrap.

I like making these outside on my griddle, but you could make them inside on the stove in a couple of skillets.

Make Smash Burger Crunch Wraps

To start making this recipe, if you are making the homemade burger sauce go ahead and mix together ketchup, mayo, mustard, and sweet relish. Stir well and set this in the refrigerator.

If you don’t feel like making homemade sauce for this recipe, Thousand Island dressing is a good substitute.

Heat a griddle over medium high heat and add at least 8 slices of bacon.

Bacon

Cook until the bacon is done and remove it from the griddle. I like to lay the bacon out on paper towels to help absorb some of the extra grease.

Next, spread out the bacon grease and add a bag of frozen crinkle cut fries. Add the sliced onions to the other side of the griddle.

Ingredients

Cook the fries in the bacon grease flipping them until the are crispy. Remove the fries from the griddle once they are cooked to your liking. Continue stirring the sliced onions around until they are cooked how you like them.

Next, add the burger patties to the griddle. I used 1 lb of ground beef to make four patties. Season them with some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cover the patties in yellow mustard.

Burgers

Use a burger smasher with parchment paper to smash the patties.

Smashing the patties into the hot griddle is what gives the burger that great brown crust.

Once a nice crust has formed flip the burgers over and let them finish cooking.

Smash Burgers

Add American cheese to each burger. If you aren’t a fan of American cheese, use whatever cheese you like!

Lay out an XL burrito size tortilla. For this recipe to work, it’s important to use the extra large burrito tortillas. If you can’t find them regular burrito tortillas will work, but you will have to add another smaller tortilla to cover the seam when you fold it up.

Make the Smash Burger Crunch Wrap by adding burger sauce, a burger patty, grilled onions, a couple of pieces of bacon, crispy fries, more sauce, shredded lettuce, and pickles.

Serve Crunch Wraps

You can really customize this recipe adding any burger toppings you like. I prefer to make mine without pickles, but my wife adds them to hers.

Fold the sides up and put the Crunch Wrap on the griddle seam side down. Cook on medium heat until both sides are golden brown.

Once the Crunch Wraps are golden brown, it’s time to eat! I like serving these with any remaining fries and the rest of the burger sauce for dipping. Enjoy!

Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • I used four burger patties in this recipe which was about 1 lb of meat.
  • I prefer using American cheese, but you could use any cheese you like.
  • I keep the seasonings simple on these with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, but you can use any extra seasoning you like.
  • If you don’t have a griddle you can make these inside on the stove using a couple of skillets. I would cook the fries in the oven or an air fryer following directions on the package.
  • Make sure to buy the Extra Grande Burrito sized tortillas. These over sized tortillas make it easier to fold up and you don’t have to add an extra tortilla to the top.
