Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Easy Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Spinach and Artichoke Dip is a classic appetizer that I love to make for any get-together! You can just throw all of the ingredients together in a slow cooker, in your oven or even on your smoker! The tangy artichokes compliment the creamy cheese perfectly. We have been making this exact recipe for years and it is always a crowd pleaser. Pair it with some pretzel crisps, tortilla chips, crackers or some bread for the perfect bite!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 8 oz block of cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup of sour cream

  • 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella

  • 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese

  • 2 TBSP of minced garlic

  • 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper

  • 1 tsp of onion powder

  • 9 oz frozen spinach (fresh chopped spinach is good too)

  • 1 12 oz jar of drained and chopped marinated artichoke hearts

HOW TO MAKE

This delicious and creamy dip can be made either in a slow cooker, in the oven, or on your smoker!

Slow Cooking Instructions

If you’re making this recipe in a slow cooker, first spray it with some cooking spray. Combine all of the ingredients in the slow cooker: 1 block of cream cheese, ½ cup of sour cream, 1 ½ cups of shredded mozzarella, ½ cup of shredded Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, ½ teaspoon each of salt and pepper, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 9 ounces of frozen spinach and 1 jar of drained and chopped artichoke hearts. I prefer using frozen spinach in this recipe because we always have it on hand in the freezer. Fresh chopped spinach also works great. After you have added all of your ingredients, stir everything together well and cook on low for 2-3 hours making sure to stir a few times to ensure that the cheese melts.

Smoker Instructions

If I already have something on the smoker, I will go ahead and make this dip on there as well! It adds the perfect amount of smoky flavor to the dip. Start by spraying a smoker safe baking dish with some cooking spray. I like to use aluminum pans so cleaning up is no problem. Add in all of the listed ingredients and stir well. I smoke this dip at 250º F for 1-2 hours until everything is nice and melted. Once the cheese is all melted, you are ready to serve. Enjoy!

Oven Instructions

Spray a baking dish with cooking spray. Add all ingredients to the dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. I like to stir a couple of times while this bakes. You really just need to bake it long enough to melt the cheese!

Questions and Frequently Asked Questions

  • When adding the frozen spinach I don’t ever defrost it or drain liquid from it. I add it in still frozen and don’t ever have any issues with it. Fresh chopped spinach can also be used!

  • Freshly shredded cheese usually melts better than the store-bought already shredded cheese.

  • I like using jarred marinated artichoke hearts for added flavor!
