Ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Pasta

Make Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Pasta

Begin with getting out your crockpot and spraying it with cooking spray.

Add 1 lb of chicken breast to the crockpot and add in 1 chopped onion.

Next up, you will add all of the dry seasonings; 1 tablespoon of dry ranch seasoning, and ½ teaspoon each of salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

Chicken, seasonings, onion, and Buffalo sauce

Then, you’re going to add about ½ cup of buffalo sauce into the slow cooker. I used Buffalo Wild Wings Medium sauce, but you can use your favorite brand. For less spice be sure to use a mild buffalo sauce.

Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for about 6 hours until the temperature of the chicken is at least 165º.

Once the chicken is cooked through, take the chicken out of the crockpot and chop up or shred if preferred.

Add the chicken back into the crockpot, then boil a 16 oz box of pasta according to the directions on the box.

While the pasta is cooking, add 1 jar of Alfredo sauce and 2 tablespoons of bottled ranch dressing to the crockpot.

If you want it more spicy, you can also add a little bit more buffalo sauce to taste.

Helpful Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • The spice level of this recipe can be controlled by using a mild buffalo sauce and starting off with ¼ cup of sauce and gradually increasing to your desired spice level.

  • If I use a mild buffalo sauce my kids can eat this recipe. I usually go light on the sauce and add more to my plate if I want a stronger buffalo flavor. The Alfredo and cheese helps cut the spice too.
  • Use your favorite type of pasta for this recipe! Penne, Rigatoni, and Cellentani all work well.

  • I used Buffalo Wild Wing’s Medium Sauce, but if that’s too spicy you can use a mild buffalo sauce instead.

  • Use freshly shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese for a better flavor and creaminess.

  • If you don’t have a jar of alfredo sauce or prefer to make it yourself, feel free to make homemade alfredo sauce, just add about 16 oz to substitute for the jar of alfredo. I usually prefer to make my own alfredo for most recipes, but I have found it doesn’t really affect the flavor in this dish, it’s more so for the consistency.

  1. This looks very similar to the Buffalo Chicken Dip (aka Buffalo Chicken Crack) I’ve made, but with Blue Cheese instead of Ranch. (Blue Cheese seasoning has to be ordered online but worth it.)

I look forward to trying this with Blue Cheese and Garlic Buffalo wing sauce.

    Hi I have a question,

When I add the cubed chicken back with the Alfredo, ranch, and cheese, do I leave it on high or should I leave it on warm and then cook the pasta?

    Thank you

I made this today and it came out better than I expected! Sooo easy too. I do make the chicken often times on its own so I was happy to find a random recipe including it. I live alone in an old west side double and have three hockey players who live upstairs. I ended up sharing it with them because it made so much. They seemed thrilled and said they genuinely liked it. Asked when I’ll cook for them again.. haha! Guess I’ll have to stalk your other receipts 🙂

  6. Added a jar of banana peppers to the slow cooker at the end added a nice zing to the flavor and was an excellent addition.

The whole family enjoyed this. Son in law said it was a keeper. I didn’t use crockpot and did it on stove top. My daughter would try it in the instant pot. Anyway the flavors are delicious

I’ve actually never had buffulo chicken pasta, my fiance loves it and I was really nervous to try it, bc something about buffulo and pasta didnt sound right, but I came across this recipe in fear I wasn’t going to like it and oppose to alot of other recipes this didnt have very many reviews. But here Id like to say, this was hands down delicious! I am now a fan of buffulo chicken pasta! Im not entirely an onion person so I used half a white onion and used Rao’s Alfredo sauce. All thanks too you my guy!
