Tips and Suggestions
- I make Homemade Meatballs and keep them in the freezer for recipe like this one! If you don’t want to make homemade meatballs, a bag of frozen store-bought meatballs will be just fine! Use any variety your family likes. Either the Homestyle or Italian variations will work in this recipe.
- I use shredded mozzarella cheese on these meatballs because I always keep it stocked in the refrigerator. You could use Gruyère, Swiss, or Provolone cheese.
- I prefer to use low sodium beef broth in this recipe since the can of condensed French onion soup has salt in it and if you use store-bought meatballs they could also be higher in salt.
- Once your meatballs are finished cooking, if you want your gravy to be a thicker consistency add a cornstarch slurry. This will help thicken the gravy.
