Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp each of salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp each of paprika and Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup chopped pepperoni
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 2 cups of marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 2 1/2 cups of pasta (I used Penne)
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Dried Parsley

How To Make Pizza Hamburger Helper

To make this cheesy pizza hamburger helper recipe, start by heating up a large skillet over medium high heat.

Once the skillet is heating up, add one pound of ground beef and one chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.

Let the ground beef and onions cook down. Once the beef is browned drain any extra grease.

Next, I like to make a little well in the middle of the ground beef and add 1/4 cup of chopped pepperoni to the middle of the skillet. I like to chop the pepperoni into fourths.

Next, let the pepperoni cook until they start to brown and dab off any extra grease from the pepperoni with a paper towel.

After the ground beef and pepperoni are free of any extra grease, add 1 TBSP of minced garlic and most of the other ingredients. The 2 1/2 cups of pasta (I used Penne Pasta this time), 2 cups of beef broth, 1/2 cup of milk, and 2 cups of marinara sauce will all be added to the skillet at this time.

Now that the ingredients are in the skillet, give everything a good stir and bring to a quick simmer. On my stove the heat is still at a 6, or medium heat at this point.

As soon as the liquid in the skillet starts bubbling I like to lower the heat to about a 4. This will cook covered for about 15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked and the liquid has reduced.

Once about 15 minutes have passed, stir in 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Next top with the last cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. This can go in the oven under broil if you are using an oven safe skillet. You could also just let it sit on the stove covered for a few minutes until the cheese melts.

Serve Pizza Hamburger Helper

Now it’s time to eat! Top the cheesy pizza hamburger helper with some dried or fresh parsley. I usually serve this with a vegetable of some kind. We had some easy roasted broccoli, but green beans or a salad are also great options!
