Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika
  • 3 tbsp of butter
  • Mike’s Hot Honey
  • 4 Buns
  • 8 pieces of cooked bacon
  • Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Dill Pickles

Make Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches

Start making this recipe by cooking some bacon. I like to bake bacon in the oven at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. Cover the sheet pan with parchment paper for easy clean up! Once the bacon is cooked drain grease and set aside.

Next, cut one pound of chicken. I like to slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise to make them thinner. Season the chicken with some salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika.

I don’t use exact measurements on the seasonings, but I like to season both sides of the chicken.

Next, heat a large skillet over medium high heat and melt 2 tsp of butter. Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet.

Cook the chicken for a few minutes on each side to get a nice sear. This won’t fully cook the chicken.

Next, add a drizzle of the Hot Honey on top of the chicken and top with Pepper Jack cheese. This will now go in the oven at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes.

You can use any brand of Hot Honey, but I really like Mike’s Hot Honey. You can order it on amazon or usually find it at Walmart!

Once the chicken is fully cooked, it’s time to build the sandwiches!

Build Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches

I prefer to melt 1 tbsp of butter in a skillet and toast the buns. Once the buns are toasted top the bun with a piece of chicken, 1-2 strips of cooked bacon, another drizzle of Hot Honey, and some dill pickles. These are also good with some lettuce.

I served these sandwiches with some air fryer potato wedges! Fries, a salad, or some baked macaroni and cheese would be good too!

Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • Always cook chicken until it reaches at least 165 degrees with an internal meat thermometer.
  • I used Mike’s Hot Honey, but any brand can be used that you like.
  • I topped the sandwiches with Pepper Jack cheese, but cheddar or Colby Jack would also be good.
  • For my kids I just used regular honey in case they thought the hot honey was too spicy.
