Parmesan Garlic Smothered Chicken is easy to make and so good! I like making this recipe on my outdoor griddle, but you could also make it inside on the stove.

It’s made with chicken breasts, seasonings, Parmesan Garlic sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, onions, and bacon.

Ingredients

Make Parmesan Garlic Smothered Chicken

To start making this easy recipe, slice 1 lb of chicken breasts in half lengthwise to make them thinner.

Slice one onion into thin pieces and measure out your seasonings.

Next, heat a griddle over medium-high heat. Add some oil to the griddle and add the onions.

I was also making some veggies as an easy side, so I added some broccoli, zucchini, and grape tomatoes to the griddle with a little bit of oil. I seasoned all of the vegetables with Heath Riles Garlic Butter Seasoning.

Veggies

Lay out 6 pieces of bacon next to the onions.

Once the bacon is cooked, remove it from the griddle to drain any grease. Crumble the bacon and set it aside.

Continue stirring the onions and any vegetables you may be cooking on the side.

Seasoned Chicken

Add the chicken to the griddle where the bacon was previously cooked. The bacon grease will help flavor the chicken and help it brown.

Season the chicken on both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees F and is golden brown on both sides. Mine cooked about 4-5 minutes on each side.

Chicken

Brush the chicken with a little bit of Buffalo Wild Wing’s Parmesan Garlic Sauce. I don’t use exact measurements for this part.

I just add a little bit of sauce to each piece of chicken and use a silicone brush to spread out the sauce. You can use as much or as little of the sauce as you’d like.

Top the chicken with the cooked onions, shredded mozzarella cheese, and crumbled bacon.

Cover with a griddle dome for just a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.

Serve Parmesan Garlic Smothered Chicken

Once the cheese is nice and melted, it’s time to eat! I served this with a baked potato and some veggies made on the griddle.

This would also be good with some homemade mashed potatoes, potato wedges, or a salad!

Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • I used chicken breasts in this recipe, but you could use boneless, skinless, chicken thighs if you prefer. Chicken Thighs just might take a little bit longer to cook than the thin chicken breasts.
  • I used just enough of the Parmesan garlic sauce to coat the chicken.ย
  • I like using shredded mozzarella cheese in this recipe, but you could use shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese instead. I like shredding cheese from blocks for a better melting consistency.ย
  • If you donโ€™t have a griddle, you can definitely still make this recipe inside on the stove using a couple of skillets!
