Make Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole
To start making this super easy recipe, heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Be sure to use an oven safe skillet, so the recipe can be made in just one pan!
If you don’t have an oven safe skillet you can transfer the Sloppy Joe mixture to a greased baking dish before assembling the casserole with the cheese and Crispy Crowns.
Brown 1 lb of ground beef and a chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika. Use a spatula or meat masher to chop the ground beef into small chunks.
Once the beef is fully cooked drain any extra grease.
Next, add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, and bbq sauce. Stir everything together well.
If your family loves Manwich feel free to make your Sloppy Joe mixture with that. My family prefers this homemade version instead.
Let this simmer on low for a couple of minutes.
To finish the casserole, top the sloppy joe mixture with a handful of shredded Colby Jack cheese.
Add the crispy crowns on top. Not quite all of the Crispy Crowns will be used in the recipe.
I usually save the rest of the crispy crowns in the freezer and use them to make breakfast burritos!
I really like tater tot casseroles with the crispy crowns, because they get crispier, but you can definitely use a bag of tater tots instead.
The Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole will bake in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 25 minutes or until the crispy crowns are golden brown and crispy.
Serve Sloppy Joe Tater Tot Casserole
Once the tots are golden and crispy, it is time to eat!
I served this with some roasted broccoli on the side. It would also be good with a salad or any other vegetables your family likes!
You will love this recipe because it can be made all in one pan, won’t mess up the whole kitchen, and it is picky kid approved!
