What is Grinder Salad?
Grinder salad is a seasoned lettuce topping made popular with the viral grinder salad sandwich.
It’s usually made with mayo, seasonings, red wine vinegar, Parmesan cheese, shredded lettuce, red onions, and banana pepper rings.
This salad mixture has a bold flavor and is so good on hot dogs, sandwiches, wraps, and burgers.

Make Hot Dogs with Grinder Salad
To start making hot dogs with a grinder salad, start by cooking your hot dogs.
I like to grill or smoke hot dogs, but you can make them any way you like.

Next, make the grinder salad mixture.
In a large bowl, mix together mayo, red wine vinegar, salt, oregano, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.
Add pepperoncinis peppers or banana pepper rings, 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, 1/2 a sliced red onion, and shredded lettuce.
Pepperoncinis will add just a little bit of heat, so if you don’t want any spice you can use banana pepper rings instead.

Serve Grinder Salad Hot Dogs
Once the hot dogs are grilled and the grinder salad is made, it’s time to eat!
Serve your grilled hot dogs on hot dog buns topped with a scoop of the grinder salad mixture!

These hot dogs are so good served with chips, smoked baked beans, creamy Italian pasta salad, loaded potato salad, or even some cheesy funeral potatoes.
You will love this recipe because it gives the hot dogs big flavor with little effort, the fresh veggies give a nice crunch to the recipe, and it’s the perfect summer meal!
If you are serving hot dogs at your next Summer BBQ or cookout, this grinder salad topping will take it to the next level!
The grinder salad is even really good on grilled burgers. This recipe is perfect for all of the summer get-togethers and potlucks!
