Meatloaf Patty Sandwiches
Meatloaf Patty Sandwiches are always a dinner my family enjoys! The Meatloaf Sandwiches can be served on buns or your favorite bread with any toppings you like! I like to keep them simple with some sweet and spicy pickles.
Making the meatloaf into patties instead of a whole loaf helps cut down on the cooking time. I prefer making them in patties to speed up the cooking process and like how all the grease runs away from the meat.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 small chopped onion
- 1 TBSP minced garlic
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Ketchup
- 1 tsp each of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 1 tbsp mustard
Make Meatloaf Patties
Start making the meatloaf patties by preheating your oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix together 2 lbs of ground beef, 1 small chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, an egg, Italian bread crumbs, ketchup and salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika.
Gently mix together all ingredients with your hands. Be sure not to overwork or squeeze the mixture too much.
Form meatloaf mixture into 8 burger sized patties. Place them on a wire rack on a baking sheet. Placing them on the wire rack helps the grease run away from the burger patties.
Mix together ketchup, bbq sauce, and mustard. Spread the sauce mixture over the tops of each meatloaf patty.
Bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Once the beef is fully cooked (I checked them with a meat thermometer) broil at 500 degrees for just a couple of minutes.
Serve Meatloaf Patty Sandwiches
Once the ground beef is fully cooked, it’s time to eat! I like to eat the meatloaf on buns and top with sweet and spicy pickles. This would be good with any of your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
I had leftover Cheesy Party Potatoes and baked beans, so I served it with those sides. This would also be good with homemade air fryer potato wedges, some roasted veggies, or a salad!
Tips and Frequently Asked Questions
- The Meatloaf patties were fully cooked in my oven at 400 degrees after 30-35 minutes, but all ovens cook differently. Cooking time also depends on how thick the patties are. I recommend checking the internal temp with a meat thermometer after 30 minutes and cooking longer if needed. The internal temp should be at least 160-165 degrees.
- Serve meatloaf sandwiches on buns or any of your favorite bread.
- Cooking the patties on a wire rack helps them not cook directly in the grease released from the ground beef.

How much Italian bread crumbs should I use
I plan on making the meatloaf patties tonight for supper
I don’t even like meatloaf, but I loved these! So did my boyfriend!
Happy to hear that!
Great recipe and awesome flavor. Used 93/7 ground beef. Had to use Ritz crackers cuz I didnโt have bread crumbs. Cook time in the oven was about 35 min. at 400ยฐ. Gently mixing beef created a looser patty that was juicy and crumbly. Not heavy and dense like a burger. Definitely adding this to our menu.
Happy to hear you liked it!
My husband and I have been making a similar recipe for years, we use some generic steak seasoning or some bbq sauce, depending on what flavor we want. We also use shredded cheddar cheese in the meat mixture, we find that the cheese helps keep the meat moist.
If I were to bake it as a meatloaf and not the patties, how long would you cook it for? Thank you! Love all your easy quick dinner recipes!
