Ingredients
- 1 lb of original country sausage
- 8 oz Mexican blend shredded cheese
- 3/4 cup chopped red and green bell peppers
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
- 12 oz wonton wraps
Make Cheesy Sausage Wonton Cups
To start making this easy recipe, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown 1 lb of sausage until it is fully cooked and drain any extra grease.
Place wonton wraps in a muffin pan and bake at 350 degrees F for about 5-10 minutes or until they are starting to lightly brown.
While the meat is cooking, chop one red and one green bell pepper. I used 3/4 cup of chopped peppers.
I like using red and green bell peppers around the holidays, but you can use any color of bell pepper you have in your refrigerator.
If you aren’t a fan of bell peppers, you can use fresh or pickled jalapenos instead for some heat.
When I make this recipe with jalapenos instead of bell peppers, I usually use 1/4-1/2 cup of fresh or pickled jalapenos.
In a large bowl, combine browned sausage, Mexican blend shredded cheese, the chopped peppers, and ranch dressing. Stir everything together well.
Using a large spoon, fill the wonton cups with the sausage and cheese mixture.
Place them back in the oven for about 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the wonton cups are browned.
Serve Cheesy Sausage Wonton Cups
Once the cheese is melted and the wonton cups are nice and brown, it’s time to eat!
This makes about 30 loaded wontons depending on how much filling is used. These have been a family favorite for years!
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in an oven or air fryer just until they are hot.
