Jalapeño Popper Wontons are an easy and delicious appetizer perfect for game day or any gathering!

This recipe is made with simple ingredients like cream cheese, shredded Colby Jack, bacon, Jalapeños, ranch seasoning and wonton wraps.

The best part about this recipe is that prep work is minimal and they come together in about 20 minutes! It’s also easy to customize to make a variety of shareable snacks for your next get together!

  • Pickled jalapeños
  • Bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • Ranch seasoning
  • Cream cheese, softened
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Fresh jalapeños, sliced

Make Jalapeño Popper Wontons

To make this easy and delicious recipe, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and gather all of your ingredients.

Next, add the wonton wrappers to two 12 count nonstick muffin tins and bake for about 5 minutes or until they start to get crispy and hold their shape.

While the wonton wraps are crisping up make the filling in a large bowl.

Combine 1 cup of shredded Colby Jack cheese, 1/2 cup chopped pickled jalapeños, 8 strips of crumbled bacon, 1 Tbsp. ranch seasoning, and 8 ounces softened cream cheese.

Stir everything together well and remove muffin tins from the oven.

Next, use two spoons to scoop the cheesy jalapeño mixture evenly into the partially baked wonton cups. Add a sliced fresh jalapeño on top of each one.

Bake at 375 degrees F for about 10 minutes.

I was able to get about 24 wonton cups out of this, but you could fill them a little less full and make even more!

This makes about 24 loaded wontons depending on how much filling is used. These have been a family favorite for years!

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator and reheat in an oven or air fryer just until they are hot.

Tips and Frequently Asked Questions

  • I used one cup of freshly shredded Colby Jack cheese, but this recipe is also good with shredded cheddar or pepper jack.
  • I like to use freshly shredded cheese for this recipe because it melts a little more evenly, but pre-shedded will also work!
  • If you aren’t a fan of Jalapeños you can use chopped bell peppers instead for a little less heat! 
  • This recipe usually makes 24-30 Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups, depending on how full the wonton cups are filled.
  • These reheat pretty well in the oven or in an air fryer.
  • Freshly cooked bacon can be substituted for bacon bits if desired.

  • The bacon can be omitted if desired to make these meat free! 

  • If made ahead of time, these can be added back to the oven to reheat if needed.
