Make Cheesesteak Potato Skillet

To start making this easy dinner recipe, prep your potatoes first.

Peel, wash the potatoes, and cut them up into cubes. Toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika (I donโ€™t use exact measurements for this part). Just be sure the potatoes are well coated in oil and seasoning.

Potatoes

Cook the potatoes in the air fryer at 400 degrees F for about 20-25 minutes shaking them around at least a couple times while they cook.

If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the potatoes in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 30 minutes. Sometimes they take a little bit longer to get crispy in the oven, but it helps to stir them around once or twice while they cook.

While the potatoes cook, cut your steak into thin pieces. If you struggle to cut steak into thinner slices, you can place your steaks in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes. This will help make it easier to cut.

Steak

Once the potatoes have about 12 minutes left heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the steak, and season with 1 tbsp of your favorite steak seasoning. Cook until the steak is done to your liking.

Once the steak is cooked, remove it from the skillet and cook the peppers and onions. Once they are soft add 1 tbsp of minced garlic. Add the cooked steak back to the skillet.

Once the potatoes are crispy, mix them in with the cooked steak, peppers, and onions.

Top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover with the lid or place in the oven at 400 degrees F for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.

Serve Cheesesteak Potato Skillet

Once the mozzarella cheese has melted top the whole skillet with warmed Cheese Whiz. This is the kind of meal that can be served as is or you can serve it with a salad!

  • If you aren’t a fan of Cheese Whiz you could use provolone cheese or American cheese instead.
  • I seasoned the steak with McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning, but you can use your favorite steak seasoning.
