Pizza Crust Pretzel Bites
Pizza Crust Pretzel Bites are an easy and delicious appetizer that my family always loves. These always disappear really quick anytime I take them to a party and they’re super easy to make.
This appetizer takes very little prep work and you can make them in less than 30 minutes. This one is also pretty cheap to make so if you’re looking for an easy appetizer that you can make on a budget you’ve found the one.
My family likes to do an appetizer night once a week and these pretzel bites are always a favorite with my kids. These are also great for parties or an easy appetizer to snack on while you watch the big game!
Ingredients
- 1 package of Martha White Pizza Crust (6.5 oz)
- 1/2 cup of hot water
- 1 TBSP Olive oil
- 1/4 cup of baking soda
- 1/2 stick of butter (4 TBSP)
- Salt
Prep the Pizza Crust Pretzel Bites
First, add water to a large pot and place that on the stove over high heat so it can come to a boil and preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Next, grab a mixing bowl and combine your pizza crust with 1/2 a cup of hot water and stir that together following the directions on the package.
Once your dough ball has been formed brush on a little olive oil and slice it into 16 bite sized pieces.
Make the Pizza Crust Pretzel Bites
Once your pot of water is boiling you can slowly add in the baking soda so it doesn’t boil over. Then drop in your bite sized dough in batches allowing them to boil for about 30 seconds.
When all of your pretzel bites have been boiled place them on a greased sheet pan and brush a little bit of melted butter over the top of each one.
To finish things up just sprinkle on some salt and then they’re going to bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve Pizza Crust Pretzel Bites
These are best served warm straight out of the oven with your choice of dipping sauce. My family really likes to have these with store bought Queso or a homemade beer cheese.
Tips and Frequently Asked Questions
- One pack of pizza crust makes 16 pretzel bites.
- Add the baking soda slowly and a little bit at a time, so it doesn’t make the water boil over.
- I used one package (6.5 oz) of Martha White pizza crust, but any brand of pizza crust should work.
- Don’t skip adding the baking soda to the water. Boiling them in baking soda and then baking them with salt is what gives them the pretzel taste/texture.
- Serve with homemade beer cheese or any store bought cheese dip or queso you like!

- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/4 tsp each of salt, pepper, garlic, cayenne, and paprika
- 1 tsp of stone ground mustard
- 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Mix pizza crust with 1/2 cup of hot water and form into a ball. Brush with olive oil and let sit for 5 minutes.
- Cut the dough into about 16 bite sized pieces (I cut the dough ball into 3 long pieces and then cut bite sized pieces). Bring a pot of water to a boil. Slowly pour in 1/4 cup of baking soda a little bit at a time (if you pour in too much at once it may boil over).
- Boil pretzel bites in baking soda and boiling water for 30 seconds. I boiled them in a couple of batches so they werenโt too crowded. Brush with butter and sprinkle salt on top. Bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes. Dip in beer cheese dip and enjoy!
Beer Cheese Dip
- Melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and keep stirring until it starts to thicken. Pour in beer and stir until it thickens. Add milk, all seasonings, mustard, and Worcestershire. Stir well and add cheddar cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and smooth.
Can I use pilsbury pizza crust for this instead?
I love pretzel buns so much and never thought about making them appetizer bites. But thenโฆ. This recipe! They came out so perfect and pretzely. They were a big hit during the KC game yesterday! My DH even said that I have to make them again for the game next Sunday. He is kind of superstitious! Go KC!
