Smoked Apple Dump Cake
This Smoked Apple Dump Cake is an easy and delicious dessert recipe! This recipe is perfect for all of the Summer gatherings.
I like making this on my smoker, but it can also be baked in an oven. This dessert is so good topped with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients
- 3 (21 oz) cans of apple pie filling
- 1 box Cinnamon Toast Crunch Coffee Cake Mix
- 1 stick of butter thinly sliced
Make Apple Dump Cake
To start making this super easy recipe, pour 3 cans of apple pie filling into a 12 inch cast iron skillet (this can be found on Amazon and is an affiliate link).
Next, pour the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Coffee cake mix on top of the apple pie filling. Spread the cake mix out over the filling but don’t stir it together. Top with the Cinnamon mixture that comes with the cake mix.
Slice one stick of butter (1/2 cup) into really thin slices.
Place the butter on top of the cake mix. Smoke on the smoker at 350 degrees F for about an hour.
If you are baking this in the oven, bake it at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes.
Serve Smoked Apple Dump Cake
Once the dessert is hot and bubbly and the top is crispy, it’s time to eat! Top the dessert with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!
Tips and Frequently Asked Questions
- If you don’t like apple pie filling, you can really use any pie filling you like. This one is also awesome made with cherry and blueberry pie filling!
- I used 1 box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Coffee Cake mix, but you can use 1 box of yellow or white cake mix instead. I do really like the addition of the Cinnamon from the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cake mix though!
- I used 1 stick of salted butter, but you can use unsalted if you prefer.
- I used my 12 inch cast iron skillet, but you can use an aluminum pan or 9X13 baking dish if baking it in the oven.
